An anonymous reader writes "A risk assessment paper prepared for Public Works and Government Services Canada says Open Office alone would save the Canadian taxpayer 18 million a year in licensing fees.
Also Ottawa researcher Ken Rubin has found that Canada spends around 90 million every five years on proprietary software using documents obtained through Access to Information.
