splitenz (762865) writes "Microsoft Research recently released the Kinect for Windows Software Development Kit (SDK). A free beta release for non-commercial applications, the SDK eliminates the need to hack the Kinect and instead allows academic researchers and developers to directly create new software for it.

This news focus looks in detail at the potential applications for the SDK, a Sydney developers group at work, what's been achieved so far and its potential."
