Why is it so hard for Disney to tell that the screenplays are crap?
Because they're not judging the screenplays based on plot, characterization, in-universe continuity, or anything useful like that. They're making sure all the proper SJW-friendly boxes are checked.
Overpowered female protagonist with zero flaws? Check. All minority racial/ethnic groups represented? Check. White male characters portrayed as trigger-happy flyboys or boorish buffoons? Check. Cute product-placement-ready animals shown for humorous effect? Check.
With that lineup how could they possibly fail???

This is the last movie from the great George Lucas... so it's delayed release compared to today's other movies.
