All you really need to know is this. Rotten Tomato scores are flipped on this last movie (Rise of Skywalker) and The Last Jedi (the 2nd movie).
2nd Rey movie, TLJ: 91% critics liked it 43% of the public liked it
Newest movie, TRoS: 57% critics liked the newest movie 86% of fans liked the newest movie
This last movie is probably the best of the three Rey movies. For what I'd consider the core fans, the pissed off superfans, and even the general public.
Critics have a completely different view on fun movies. They rated the 2nd Rey movie (The Last Jedi) extremely high, yet it annoyed all the rabid fans, and even annoyed what I'd call the regular fans. Why? Because critics couldn't guess the outcome of any single thing. Critics like surprises... even if it means completely changing an old favorite character into a goofball. They also like upsetting the status quo. They've watch 10,000 movies a year... they hate movies if they aren't a complete surprise.
Now that all the rabid fans and regular fans were scared that this last one (Rise of Skywalker) would be a complete continuation of the 2nd movie aka TLJ, sales weren't as high on opening. And critics, who only can enjoy a movie if it has the unexpected and doesn't please superfans... apparently don't like this latest movie, but the fans like it much more. The rabid old fans are so against Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, that they are pretty much boycotting Star Wars now. I hope the superfans aren't missing the Mandalorian.
First and foremost Rotten Tomatoes is no longer considered an unbiased platform as previous history from the "Captain Marvel" review backlash would indicate. It has consistently taken constructive criticism away from people in the past to boost numbers.

Rotten Tomatoes is only good when it is doing its original/core mission -- aggregating critics' reviews and posting the averages. Opening up to opt-in user reviews is always a dumb move, since you're giving your company name to a system that is way too easy to game. IE....

Seems most of the super fans are enjoying The Mandalorian, I know I am. The only Disney movie I've enjoyed was Rogue One. There's some who don't like The Child's use of force powers though, if that can be explained just a little bit I think these voices will die down. Most fans want the episodes to be longer though which I can agree with and a larger encompassing story as that seems to be a little weak right now but the last episode has shown there's some thing there, episodes 5 & 6 really felt like fil
