Anticipating next week's release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, 20 fans are already camping out in front of Hollywood's TCL Chinese Theatre, reports Cinema Blend: The tight-knit group of fans have brought along their sleeping bags, tents and Star Wars pajamas to the location for 20 years (since 1999's The Phantom Menace) to get ready for the release of another Star Wars movie. They pass the time by playing games, working on Star Wars LEGO sets and raising awareness for the Starlight Children's Foundation.

Check out one camper's update on Twitter. He's been hanging out in Hollywood for four days and is prepared to wait six more...

The superfans have set up a Death Star rug over handprints of iconic celebrities and are playing a game of Sabacc... [A] little over 100 more are expected to join them in the coming days. The stars of The Rise of Skywalker are expected to walk a red carpet close by on Monday when the world premiere takes place. One fan hopes Disney invites the campers into the screening as the studio did back in 2015 when The Force Awakens premiered.

        Given the leaks that have been and "The Last Jedi" it's a great risk that they will be disappointed.

          After the last bunch fo star wars or star trek movies, the thought of another just makes me nauseous, just eww, I just prefer the time line where only the old movies exist. Now I will just have go through the annoyance of many arsehole influencers being paid to generate noise all over the internet about another craptastic release of a series of no great value any more, they bloody squeezed that sucker dry, talk about strangling the chicken to death, wont nuthin more cum out of those fuckers.

          No, the people camping out for Rise of Skywalker are the true believers. They will love the film regardless of its quality, and post on the Internet that anyone who doesn't like it is a sexist, racist.troll.

        Job, not a hobby. These are Disney employees. Disney has a track record of fake hype, of mass ticket buys to ensure opening night is sold out, and all that sort of marketing. Can't fault them for it when people fall for it.

        Since when did media consumption qualify as a hobby. Isn't a hobby more of an activity in which you do, make, create, play, or some other activity? Making Star Wars models would be a hobby. Watching Star Wars movies falls a bit short of that, doesn't it?

They ride space horses, C3P0 gets red eyes and goes evil for a bit (again), Rey goes evil but it's just in some bullshit vision, and without so much as a Stallone training montage she becomes the stronkest ever. Hux gets a bit of screen time, but it's only there so they can say his character had redemption/closure before his pathetic death (which you see coming a mile away).

            You clearly are very upset by it though. I mean to describe the new movies are worse than the Holiday Special suggests an irrational hatred of them. They had their flaws but audience surveys of people leaving the cinema clearly demonstrate that most people enjoyed them.

      This film's Death Star (other than the remains of a previous Death Star) is an entire fleet of Star Destroyers each with a Death Star cannon on board. The lead ship has two cannons.

  • You can reserve your seats now. I have mine. I will walk in 20 past the time, to skip the trailers sit down in my reserved seat right when the premiere beings.

      • I know some Apple nuts, they really do voluntarily do that-- for anything free like a t-shirt. I don't know somebody who did it when it was just a launch without some kind of handout.

        Disney has massive resources in marketing; they create tiny AstroTurf social movements for movies if they think it'll work. They are too smart to pay for everybody directly to be in line; indirectly they might pay some of them...

    Understated acting, brilliant plot devices, new themes...
    Can't you see how awesome this is going to be?
    Killing off Palpatine was a mistake in the first place.
    The revival is a brilliant stroke of storywriting that will rival every past movie in the franchise.
    He'll carry half the plot, and together with the strong female lead they'll turn it into a real tour de force.
