'Black Mirror' Returns For Season 6 (variety.com) 33
According to Variety, a new series of "Black Mirror" is in the works at Netflix. From the report: It's been almost three years since Season 5 of the dystopian drama premiered on the streaming service in June 2019, but sources indicate that a new anthology series of "Black Mirror" is shaping up, and casting is now underway. While details about specific stories are being kept under lock and key, Variety understands that Season 6 will have more episodes than Season 5, which comprised of just three instalments and starred Andrew Scott, Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace and Miley Cyrus. A source close to the production tells Variety that the latest season is even more cinematic in scope, with each installment being treated as an individual film. This is, of course, in line with recent seasons of "Black Mirror," for which episodes usually exceeded 60 minutes and had incredibly high production values.

Heh, we can measure the bleakness of the world based on how many episodes have come true.

If you liked Black Mirror than have a look at Electric Dreams, which is a series of adapted P. K. Dick short stories (not that one though). Both are good examples of why Channel 4 shouldn't be privatised.

Oh look, another thicko. Let me explain it to you: Brooker is a man who makes a big fuss about the rich (except him of course) and apparently he loves publically funded organisations which he believes should be supported by everyone, yet he's sold out to the highest bidder and taken his program away from the public service channel he claims to support. Channel 4 said they couldn't afford to keep producing the show, so it would need to be a co-production. When co-production partners were suggested, they didn't seem too keen on the idea. Netflix eventually offered to pay for two more series, 12 more episodes.
Socialism isn't a vow of poverty. Clearly the budget offered by Netflix and the fact that they agreed 12 episodes up front meant that Brooker could secure employment for more people for longer. It also meant more creative freedom, not limited by budgetary constraints.
