Amazon Greenlights Spider-Man Noir Live-Action Series (variety.com) 28
A Spider-Man Noir live-action series is in the works at Amazon, Variety has learned exclusively. From the report: The untitled series will follow an older, grizzled superhero in 1930s New York City. An individual with knowledge of the project says that the show will be set in its own universe and the main character will not be Peter Parker. [...] Oren Uziel will serve as writer and executive producer on the Spider-Man Noir show. Uziel developed the show along with "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and former Sony boss Amy Pascal, who all executive produce. Pascal executive produces via Pascal Pictures. Sony Pictures Television is the studio, with Lord and Miller currently under an overall deal there.
The Spider-Man Noir comics originally debuted in 2009 as part of the Marvel Noir universe. That version of the iconic superhero lives in New York during the Great Depression. He is bitten by a spider hidden inside a stolen artifact, causing him to have visions of a spider-god who grants him superpowers. The character has previously appeared onscreen in the animated series "Ultimate Spider-Man" with Milo Ventimiglia providing his voice, while Nicolas Cage voiced the character in "Into the Spider-Verse." The Amazon show will be the first live-action iteration of Spider-Man Noir.

To be fair Disney doesn't really either. I was briefly reading Marvel comics during the Infinitely Gauntlet saga and can tell you even after this much time that the movies barely resemble the comics. Their super hero Civil War story arc is even more off from the comics from what I understand.

Their movies are successful and profitable, but for fans that grew up on the comics as children and remember the lore fondly, I feel like the Marvel movies took a wrong after the second Avengers flick. They're getting into silly territory now (see: Thor, Love and Thunder). But as long as they're making that bank, Disney won't care.

Eh, I suspect you have a rosier view of the Disney Marvel productions then I do. While I don't really mind that they're not true to the comics I can count on one hand the number of Disney Marvel productions I'll ever watching more than once, most of them I find to be pretty bland including their big climax. Now that their big story arc is over I'm thinking of just dropping them all together as with their continuing storyline between movies and shows if I'm not in all the way I'm not going to be in at all.

Some unfortunate realities are at work. Adapting a story from print to film always requires sacrifices. There just isn't enough time available to deliver the same depth, especially in character development, in film. Every moment must compete to hold the attention of the audience, and you only get two to three hours before they are just done. By comparison, people will spend days or weeks reading books and be sad to stop reading once the words run out. I suppose comic books are a bit different than this

That's the one thing that a lot of people forget. Any adaptation of print media gets diluted and modified a bit to go to screen in order to keep the attention of the audience. You can appreciate these boring parts that help tell a good story, but they might still be a bit of a slog to read. Imagine seeing that on screen? Some people don't think about that.

Yep, Disney's rights to x-men are complicated so having them be a central part of the story would be expensive. Also because they were not a big part of the MCU they would feel sort of shoehorned in, or you would need to spend a lot of Civil War "introducing" them. Plus as the MCU trundles along all of the divergences with the comic source material pile up onto each other pushing them farther apart. So for examp
